Role and Project

CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project with Ontario Power Generation.

The project includes retube, feeder and boiler replacement work for Units 5–8.

The Human Performance Lead reports to the Performance Assurance Manager and implements Aecon’s Human Performance Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and reinforce Human Performance and Nuclear Safety Culture program elements.
  • Deliver consistent Human Performance and Nuclear Safety Culture messaging through briefings, meetings and communication materials.
  • Facilitate training for supervisors, project management and workers.
  • Ensure teams use Aecon-adopted error reduction techniques.
  • Analyze field observations, events and trends.
  • Facilitate surveys, self-assessments, Learning Teams and Crew Learning Briefs.
  • Support field observation techniques and safety or quality investigations, including causal analysis.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in construction, quality and/or safety is required.
  • Knowledge or experience with Human and Organizational Performance in nuclear construction is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word skills are required.
  • Knowledge of listed CNSC, IAEA, INPO, occupational health and safety, and CSA standards is a valuable asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and sit or stand for extended periods is required.

Workplace and Travel

  • The role is split between the construction site and office conditions.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation

  • The expected pay range is $85,000–$105,000 per year.
