About Aecon

Aecon delivers infrastructure, industrial, energy, and nuclear projects through its Construction and Concessions segment.

The company emphasizes safety, integrity, accountability, inclusion, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

Aecon’s Nuclear Team is seeking an experienced EHS Manager for its fabrication facility operations.

The role leads environmental, health, and safety performance across fabrication facilities in Cambridge and Brantford.

The position embeds the EHS Management System into daily activities, drives critical risk management, supports nuclear safety culture, and enables operational leaders to own EHS performance.

The role combines shop-floor and office work with regular field presence at both locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS performance through visible field leadership, coaching, and proactive risk management.
  • Implement EHS plans, audits, corrective actions, regulatory readiness, and the APEX EHS Management system.
  • Manage occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, spill response, WHMIS/SDS, waste, inspections, and audits.
  • Champion nuclear safety culture, human performance tools, Foreign Material Exclusion awareness, and procedural adherence.
  • Lead and develop EHS Advisors and represent the company with stakeholders, regulators, clients, contractors, and visitors.
  • Travel up to approximately 20% to other fabrication sites in Canada and the United States.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive EHS experience, including at least 2 years leading a team.
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • CRSP designation required; CRST or CHSCO may be considered with a documented progression plan to CRSP.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Ontario OHSA, and Regulation 851.
  • Strong digital fluency with SiteDocs, Cority, Power BI, Microsoft 365, and AI-enabled reporting or analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fabrication shop, nuclear generating station, or nuclear supply-chain experience is strongly preferred.
  • Awareness of ASME NQA-1 and CSA N286 is an asset.
  • NCSO, COR Internal Auditor, ASP/CSP, or internal auditor certification is an asset.
  • OPG or Bruce Power security clearance is strongly preferred.

Workplace Conditions

  • The role requires field presence at fabrication facilities in Cambridge and Brantford.
  • Work may involve standing, walking, climbing, and exposure to welding fumes, noise, moving loads, mobile equipment, and other controlled shop-floor hazards.

Compensation

  • The stated salary range is $120,000 to $140,000; the source does not specify a compensation cadence.
  • Individual pay depends on location, education, experience, skills, certifications, training, and role complexity.
