Aecon is seeking an EHS Advisor for the Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Program infrastructure project.
The project includes material movement, earthworks, foundations, structural concrete, buildings, and supporting infrastructure in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes and Barrie regions.
Reporting to the EHS Director, the advisor promotes a health, safety, and environmental culture across project employees.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate employee and site-specific safety orientations for workers, owners, and clients.
- Train supervisors and staff on Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.
- Coordinate training in WHMIS, First Aid, Propane, traffic protection, respiratory protection, and emergency response.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, behavioral observations, and accident investigations.
- Develop emergency, fire, traffic control, and fall protection plans.
- Coordinate site safety coordinators, safety committees, corrective actions, and external audits.
- Support workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and modified work programs.
- Coordinate environmental issues and provide statistical information for tender packages.
What you bring
- Have at least 3 years of experience in a construction industry health and safety role.
- Have strong knowledge of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and WSIB.
- Have strong knowledge of WHMIS, asbestos in construction, designated substances, and smoking in the workplace regulations.
- Be self-motivated, organized, proactive, adaptable, and able to work accurately under pressure.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Be available to work onsite five days per week and travel to different locations as required.
Compensation
- The expected pay range is $80,000 to $110,000 per year.
- Individual pay depends on work location, education, experience, skills, job conditions, certifications, training, and role scope.
