The Software Engineer II will work with engineering, architecture, product, and delivery stakeholders to translate complex needs into clear system requirements.
The role designs, develops, tests, and enhances web-based applications using coding standards and a continuous Build-Integrate-Test approach in an Agile environment.
The engineer improves application functionality, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of web-based applications.
- Develop business and domain understanding and recommend functional improvements.
- Translate business requirements into technical and system requirements and clarify ambiguity.
- Own assigned modules and independently deliver high-quality features.
- Create basic project plans for small projects and development initiatives.
- Follow coding, development, quality assurance, and configuration management standards.
- Participate in code reviews and improve team processes, code, and work items.
- Design database solutions, maintain database objects, and support performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot application performance bottlenecks and resolve assigned operational issues.
- Understand production infrastructure, interfaces, integrations, and product dependencies.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and recommend practical team improvements.
- Collaborate across teams and communicate requirements with partner groups.
Technical Skills
- Required technologies include C#/.NET Core/.NET Framework, TypeScript, NestJS, and Node.js.
- Required architecture experience includes microservices and event-driven systems using Apache Kafka or another event-processing service.
- Experience with React.js or Angular, cloud platforms, relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, and Kubernetes is required.
- CI/CD tools include Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, YAML, and PowerShell.
- Observability tools include Splunk, ELK Stack, and DataDog.
- Testing experience includes unit testing, Behavior-Driven Development, and Test-Driven Development.
- Git-based source-code management and Jira with Agile/Scrum practices are required.
- Python, Databricks, and AWS or Azure Developer certification are listed as nice to have.
- Hands-on use of AI coding assistants is expected as part of the competencies.
Education and Experience
- A graduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required.
- The role requires a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on software development experience.
