The Law Clerk Underwriter assesses risk associated with real estate deals and communicates with clients.
The role maintains the phone queue, responds to client inquiries, and provides detailed coverage information.
Underwriting Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting support by reviewing title requisitions, surveys, title and off-title searches, and pre-approval requests.
- Review policy orders and contact solicitors, lenders, and insured parties to identify fraudulent transactions.
- Prepare and explain non-standard Schedule B exceptions and endorsements.
- Assist with Managed Mortgage Solutions policy issuance by reviewing searches, commitments, and surveys.
- Maintain current knowledge of underwriting guidelines and Canadian statutes.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a real estate law firm.
- Technical knowledge of real estate law, real estate transaction mechanics, and Land Titles.
- Professional customer service approach, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and collaborate with a team.
- Strong computer skills.
Compensation
- Total direct compensation is listed as CAD 64,800 to CAD 79,300.
- The stated range may include base pay plus applicable incentives or allowances.
