Job Description

  • We're looking for a Senior Software Architect to lead the technical direction of our video management system (VMS) as we expand AI capabilities across the platform.
  • This is a hybrid strategic and hands on role reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Define technical direction and own the architectural roadmap for our VMS platform as we integrate AI capabilities.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable system designs.
  • Evaluate technical trade offs and long term risks with product, security, and engineering leadership.
  • Design and implement solutions for large scale codebases across backend and client.
  • Own non functional requirements: scalability, high availability, low latency video delivery.
  • Establish observability frameworks (metrics, logs, distributed tracing) to turn telemetry into actionable data.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the division.
  • Drive engineering standards and quality through code reviews and architectural decisions.
  • Build collaborative relationships with developers and technical leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience building distributed systems in C++ or C#.
  • Experience architecting modern client applications (React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks).
  • Track record of shipping large scale systems to production.
  • Experience integrating AI services or APIs into production applications.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, real time data streaming, and database design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
  • Familiarity with Postgres or other relational databases.
  • Experience with modern languages like Rust or .NET frameworks.
  • Background in video streaming, media processing, or security/surveillance systems.

Target Base Salary Range

  • 200,000 250,000 CAD

Basic Requirements

  • 10+ years of software development experience in C++ or C#.
