About the Role

The employer is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for an engineering consultancy.

The role manages the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects from initial estimates through final accounts.

Projects may include healthcare, commercial, residential, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and bills of quantities from architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Manage project budgets, financial reporting, cost forecasts, and savings or overruns.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Monitor expenditures, perform cost value reconciliations, and allocate work-package costs.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify claims.
  • Manage tender documentation, contract terms, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Identify cost risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Advise stakeholders on contracts, cost control, and procurement.
  • Maintain contractual and financial records for audit and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of quantity surveying and cost management experience in construction or engineering.
  • Expertise in cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial project management.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing trends in local and international markets.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software such as CostX, WinQS, or Candy.
  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills for multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC and other standard contract forms is an advantage.

Preferred Credentials

  • Professional membership or certification such as MRICS, RICS, CIQS, or an equivalent is highly preferred.

Project Environment

  • The role includes regular site visits and collaboration with project managers, engineers, contractors, clients, the Resident Engineer, and construction teams.
  • The position supports projects across healthcare, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
