About the Role

Experienced Quantity Surveyor role at an engineering consultancy responsible for the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects from initial estimates to final accounts.

Works with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to keep projects within budget while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance.

Project sectors include healthcare, commercial, residential, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and bills of quantities from architectural and engineering drawings, and manage budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and potential savings or overruns.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations and monitor expenditures, cost value reconciliations, and work-package cost allocation.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, verify claims, and align actual construction with planned financial targets.
  • Prepare and manage tender documents and contract terms, administer contracts, and control variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Identify and mitigate cost risks, advise on contractual and procurement matters, and support compliance with regulations and project guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and construction team and maintain contractual and financial records for audit and reporting.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of quantity surveying and cost-management experience in construction or engineering.
  • Expertise in cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial project management.
  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing trends in local and international markets.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software such as CostX, WinQS, or Candy and general project management tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership or certification such as MRICS, RICS, CIQS, or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC and other standard contract forms is advantageous.
