About the Role

The position is for a Site Mechanical Engineer at an engineering consultancy firm.

The role focuses on on-site management and implementation of mechanical systems for major construction projects.

The engineer will supervise installation, testing, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise installation of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems on site.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, ASHRAE, NFPA, and local codes.
  • Inspect mechanical installations for quality and safety.
  • Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issues.
  • Review subcontractor shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
  • Monitor progress and support timely installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Provide technical support during site meetings and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports and liaise with authorities on permits and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 10–12 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare HVAC, medical gas, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience supervising installations and applying ASHRAE, NFPA, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Familiarity with testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
  • Ability to manage site activities, coordinate disciplines, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Strong construction health and safety knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of BIM software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership in a professional engineering organization such as ASHRAE or IMechE is preferred.
  • Experience working under FIDIC or other standard contract forms is a plus.

Workplace

  • The role is site-based and involves on-site management of mechanical installation activities.
