About the Role
Gulftainer is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager for a critical phase of operational ramp-up and performance improvement.
The role strengthens terminal operating fundamentals, productivity, operational discipline, workforce capability, and process standardization.
The position supports container and multi-purpose cargo operations at Khor Fakkan Terminal, Sharjah UAE.
Operational Performance and Productivity
- Drive quay, yard, and gate productivity improvements through daily operational control and performance management.
- Monitor KPIs, identify bottlenecks, optimize resource deployment, and improve shift execution and workforce productivity.
Gate, Landside, and Planning Operations
- Support gate automation and weighbridge implementation while improving truck flow, traffic control, marshalling yard operations, and turnaround times.
- Oversee vessel operations planning, develop yard strategies, optimize equipment allocation, and ensure effective shift handovers.
Terminal Transformation Projects
- Support Terminal Operating Systems implementation and provide operational input for design, testing, user acceptance, and change management.
- Contribute to operational readiness for infrastructure and technology upgrades.
Workforce and Cargo Operations
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, SOP implementation, supervisory capability development, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Develop capability across container, Ro-Ro, general cargo, and bulk cargo operations.
Safety and Compliance
- Promote safe working practices, incident prevention, operational risk management, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 10–15+ years of experience in port and terminal operations.
- At least 5 years in a management or senior supervisory role.
- Strong container terminal experience and a record of performance improvement, operational turnaround, and productivity enhancement.
- Experience standardizing processes and establishing operational discipline in international or large-scale terminal environments.
- Strong English communication and reporting skills.
Preferred Experience
- GCC or Middle East terminal operations experience is preferred.
- Exposure to brownfield transformation or rapid operational ramp-up environments is preferred.
- Experience with Ro-Ro, general cargo, and bulk cargo operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of TOS implementation and operational change management is preferred.
- English and Arabic language skills are highly preferred.
