Role overview

Mace is supporting a major mixed-use development programme in Saudi Arabia with transport infrastructure and associated assets.

The role is a key member of the systems engineering team and leads the V&V strategy across multidisciplinary teams and supply chains.

The position supports delivery from concept and design through construction, commissioning, handover, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead V&V strategies, plans, processes, and tools for technical approvals and project delivery.
  • Define acceptance criteria and maintain evidence for requirements, hazards, RAM targets, and operational needs.
  • Manage integration and assurance risks across requirements, interfaces, RAM, safety, certification, and regulatory teams.
  • Review supplier V&V deliverables and support test readiness, commissioning, and entry into service.
  • Report progress and provide assurance advice to leadership, project teams, suppliers, and authorities.
  • Coach teams on best practice and identify carbon reduction opportunities during delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to railway systems safety.
  • Recognised professional membership and Chartered Engineer status, or an equivalent.
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in land transport design, construction, and/or operations and maintenance programmes.
  • Significant experience managing V&V processes, tools, techniques, and deliverables.
  • Detailed understanding of V&V KPIs and reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of railway asset design, construction, operations, safety regulations, and industry standards, including ISO 61508, EN 50126, EN 50129, and EN 50716.
  • Relevant experience on high-value projects or programmes for a project management consultancy.

Preferred qualifications

  • A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Middle East experience is advantageous.
