Role overview
Lead portfolio-wide safety assurance for an integrated transport system in a major Saudi programme.
Work with multidisciplinary teams, supply-chain partners, and authorities from design through operations.
Embed compliant safety strategies, manage approvals, and support safe, high-performing transport delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop portfolio-wide safety assurance strategies, plans, processes, and tools.
- Define the assurance lifecycle for verification and validation, risk, governance, evidence, and reporting.
- Ensure safety risks are tolerable and ALARP before acceptance.
- Coordinate independent assurance, audits, inspections, risk workshops, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare submissions, secure approvals, and deliver compliant safety plans and evidence.
- Build capability through leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Represent the programme with stakeholders and contribute to good practice and sustainable delivery.
- Manage carbon emissions and reductions associated with delivery work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline focused on railway systems safety.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Recognised professional membership and Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent international professional registration.
- 20 years of relevant land transport design, construction, and/or operations and maintenance experience.
- At least five years in a senior leadership role within a major-project environment.
- Middle East experience is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of smart-city frameworks and sustainable design principles.
- Experience delivering safety assurance evidence in safety-critical transport environments.
- Detailed knowledge of safety performance measures and international benchmarks.
