Role Overview
The Senior Economist drafts institutional reports, develops economic indicators and forecasting models, conducts policy research, and contributes to training and technical assistance.
The role provides high-level economic analysis and policy advice for economic surveillance and reform programs while building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare policy notes, reports, policy briefs, recommendations, and letters of intent related to economic and financial challenges and reform programs.
- Monitor macroeconomic developments, economic programs, reform implementation, and country outlooks.
- Prepare surveillance and country reports with forward-looking policy advice.
- Provide policy advice and technical assistance on macroeconomic and structural policies.
- Prepare macroeconomic, financial, risk, financing needs, and debt sustainability analyses.
- Conduct research on country, regional, and global economic and financial issues.
- Develop indicators, surveillance tools, and macroeconomic forecasting models.
- Design and deliver technical assistance, training, capacity-building courses, and workshops.
- Communicate complex economic concepts through presentations, reports, and publications.
- Build collaborative relationships with member-country authorities, internal departments, and financial institution partners.
Knowledge and Experience
- At least eight years of relevant experience in economics, finance, or a related field.
- Experience in macroeconomic analysis, financial sector analysis, and policy advice.
- Extensive expertise in econometrics, economic modeling, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in statistical and econometric software including EViews, STATA, S-Plus, RATS, MATLAB, Python, R, and other tools.
- Expertise in designing and providing training courses in economics, finance, or related fields.
- Proficiency in relevant statistical guidelines, manuals, and methodologies issued by international institutions.
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed economics, finance, or related journals and ability to manage research projects.
Education
- Ph.D. in economics, finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
