About the Role

Responsibilities
- Set out EGA’s Safety and Governance strategy and framework based on overall ESG & Sustainability strategy
- Direct implementation of functional strategy ensuring alignment to group strategy and corporate objectives
- Manage effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership and performance management
- Oversee consolidation and recommend functional budget; monitor financial performance
- Strategize creation of company wide safety policies, processes and procedures
- Provide functional expertise and lead development of comprehensive governance framework for safety management
- Lead and direct day to day operations of all EGA sites to ensure work processes comply with policies
- Lead significant incident investigations and direct preparation of reports
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs covering international safety standards
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations across international operations; conduct audits and inspections
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as safety management, HSSE
- Professional certification/ Diploma in Safety Management
- Lead Auditor qualification
- 12 years of safety experience in an industrial environment, including at least 4 years safety management level experience
- Risk assessment/management skills
- Leadership ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Purpose
- Provides functional expertise, leads and directs the development, planning, management and audit of EGA’s Safety Management systems.
- Ensures compliance to legislation and international standards to achieve EGA’s road to zero harm.
Key Accountabilities
- Sets out EGA’s Safety and Governance strategy and framework.
- Directs implementation of functional strategy aligned to group strategy.
- Ensures provision of subject matter expertise and counsel to EGA leadership.
- Manages effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership.
- Establishes SMART KPIs for departments.
- Leads talent development initiatives.
- Oversees and manages effective coordination with other departments.
- Oversees consolidation and recommends functional budget.
- Strategizes creation of company wide safety policies and procedures.
- Provides functional expertise and leads development of governance framework.
- Monitors effective implementation of Safety System procedures.
- Plans, leads and coordinates all safety related projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as safety management, HSSE.
- Professional certification/ Diploma in Safety Management.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- 12 years of safety experience in an industrial environment, including at least 4 years safety management level experience.
- Risk assessment/management skills.
