The Search & AI Evaluation team advances enterprise-scale search, retrieval, and evaluation across global products.

About the Role

The Senior Data Analyst will lead analytics and evaluation efforts for search and retrieval systems.

The role owns analytical workflows, measurement strategies, and insights that improve ranking quality, relevance, and user experience.

Search Evaluation and Analytics

  • Analyze search and retrieval performance, including ranking quality and relevance.
  • Define and standardize search evaluation metrics such as NDCG, MAP, recall, precision, and click-through rate.
  • Analyze query behavior, user signals, content performance, query intent, and retrieval gaps.
  • Support evaluation of downstream generative AI features that depend on retrieval quality.

Experimentation and Reporting

  • Design and lead A/B testing and experimentation frameworks for search and ranking improvements.
  • Partner with product and data science teams to define success metrics and experiment strategies.
  • Ensure statistical rigor and build reusable experimentation templates and scalable analysis workflows.

Visualization and Communication

  • Own dashboards and reporting systems tracking search performance and user engagement.
  • Communicate actionable insights to technical and business stakeholders through clear data storytelling.
  • Enable self-service analytics through well-designed reporting tools.

Data Management and Collaboration

  • Use large-scale datasets and modern platforms such as Databricks, Spark, and SQL-based systems.
  • Maintain data quality, metric consistency, and instrumentation reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve logging, tracking, and search-system observability.
  • Partner with search data scientists, engineers, and product teams and help elevate measurement practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Significant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for large-scale data analysis.
  • Advanced experience with data visualization and BI tools.
  • Experience with Databricks or similar large-scale data platforms.
  • Strong experimentation, A/B testing, statistical analysis, and search metrics experience.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and influence decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with search, ranking, or recommendation systems.
  • Familiarity with information retrieval, clickstream data, user behavior analytics, event tracking, ML ranking, RAG, or GenAI applications.
