About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer will build and operate reliable data pipelines and services for large-scale search and analytics use cases.
The Search and AI Platform supports Scopus, ScienceDirect, and next-generation LLM-powered research systems.
The platform uses knowledge graphs, search and recommendation systems, and research data to deliver insights to the scientific community.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and services.
- Develop batch and ELT/ETL workflows for ingesting and processing large datasets.
- Work with Python, Java, Spark, SQL, and Airflow.
- Apply testing, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
- Contribute to AWS-based systems focused on reliability, monitoring, and automation.
- Collaborate with product, platform, and data science partners.
- Support team learning through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Experience as a data or software engineer working on production systems.
- Strong Python skills and experience with at least one backend language such as Java.
- Understanding of data lakes, batch processing, and distributed systems.
- Experience building or operating pipelines using Spark and Airflow.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, with AWS preferred, and production monitoring.
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
