Senior Accountant (FLIGHT FORWARDING )

Role Overview

Accounting and Billing

• Manage daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
• Prepare and verify customer invoices using shipment details, quotations, AWBs, freight rates, and agreed credit terms.
• Monitor customer outstanding balances and collections and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Verify and process invoices from airlines, freight agents, transport companies, customs brokers, and other service providers.
• Maintain shipment-related revenue and expense records and allocate costs to the correct shipment or job.

Reporting and Controls

• Reconcile airline, shipping line, vendor, customer, bank, and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and financial analysis.
• Review job profitability by comparing revenue with freight and operational costs.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including accruals, provisions, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and adjustments.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital and assist management with financial planning.
• Maintain proper financial documentation and internal controls.

Coordination and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable VAT, tax, and accounting requirements.
• Coordinate with operations, sales, procurement, and customer service to resolve billing and cost discrepancies.
• Support external auditors, internal audits, and tax or VAT audits by providing documents and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports and provide information for business and pricing decisions.
• Identify accounting errors, control weaknesses, and opportunities to improve financial processes.
• Supervise junior accountants and review their accounting entries and work.

Key Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with freight forwarding, shipping line, or logistics accounting.
• Good understanding of air freight and sea freight billing and shipment costing.
• Knowledge of VAT and tax requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong reconciliation, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end closing.

Compensation

• Pay is AED 3,500 to AED 5,000 per month.

Preferred Experience

• Three years of experience in a shipping or freight forwarding company is preferred.

Work Location

• Work is performed in person.
