Role overview

Sanitation Technician responsible for cleaning and sanitizing process equipment to support safe production and packaging of quality food products.

The role works in a food manufacturing plant and follows government sanitation requirements, GMPs, and plant safety procedures.

Pay

  • Base rate is $20.45 per hour.
  • Total pay may include other forms of compensation and may vary based on work location, experience, skills, and education or training.

Shift and schedule

  • Second shift follows a rotating 7-2-3-2 schedule and includes work every Sunday.
  • Hours generally run from 2:45 PM to 11:00 PM, with start times and hours varying based on coverage and production needs.
  • Overtime may be required, including mandatory overtime when necessary.

Primary responsibilities

  • Clean plant areas according to the Master Sanitation Schedule and maintain general housekeeping.
  • Operate powered lifts, power washers, foam applicators, steamers, compactors, floor jacks, vacuums, and floor scrubbers safely.
  • Disassemble and reassemble processing equipment, including machines, pumps, bucket elevators, slurry equipment, and filters.
  • Perform allergen elimination procedures and follow applicable GMPs for assigned areas.
  • Use PPE and follow safe lifting, hygiene, injury-reporting, and equipment-defect procedures.
  • Read Safety Data Sheets and prepare and use chemical cleaning agents according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Assist with spill containment, pest activity reporting, debris removal, recycling, and trailer loading.
  • Participate in safety training, plant initiatives, 5S activities, and other assigned duties.

Minimum requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and/or one year of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously, climb frequently, and handle objects weighing up to 100 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to work around loud noise, moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, chemicals, airborne particles, and temperature extremes.

Work environment

  • The plant environment can be loud, and hearing protection is required in production areas.
  • The role may involve exposure to high or precarious places, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor conditions, and extreme heat or cold.
