Job Summary

The Room Attendant cleans, services, presents, and maintains assigned guest rooms and designated Housekeeping areas.

The role supports guest comfort and experience through cleanliness, hygiene, attention to detail, privacy, and professional service.

The Room Attendant coordinates with Housekeeping and other departments to release rooms on time and report defects or guest concerns.

Guest Room Cleaning and Presentation

  • Collect room assignments, keys, work instructions, and operational information before starting duties.
  • Prepare and maintain the housekeeping trolley with linen, amenities, cleaning supplies, equipment, and guest supplies.
  • Clean and service assigned rooms according to hotel SOPs, brand standards, room-cleaning procedures, and productivity requirements.
  • Make beds, replace linen, clean and sanitize surfaces and floors, replenish amenities, and complete final room checks.
  • Perform turndown service where applicable and report rooms requiring additional cleaning or maintenance.

Bathroom Cleaning and Hygiene

  • Clean and disinfect toilets, showers, bathtubs, washbasins, mirrors, floors, fixtures, and other bathroom surfaces.
  • Replenish towels, toiletries, tissue, and other bathroom consumables according to hotel standards.
  • Report leaking taps, blocked drains, damaged fixtures, faulty lighting, plumbing issues, and other maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain hygiene and cross-contamination prevention practices throughout cleaning activities.

Guest Privacy and Service

  • Respect guest privacy, belongings, confidentiality, and security and follow approved room-entry and Do Not Disturb procedures.
  • Report suspicious activity, security concerns, lost and found items, and unusual conditions immediately.
  • Greet guests courteously, respond to reasonable requests, and refer out-of-scope matters to the appropriate department.
  • Escalate complaints, service recovery situations, special requests, and unresolved concerns to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Housekeeping Operations

  • Maintain assigned corridors, service areas, pantries, linen areas, trolleys, and other Housekeeping spaces.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and handle clean and soiled linen according to hotel procedures.
  • Return equipment, supplies, keys, and hotel property to designated locations at the end of the shift.
  • Support deep cleaning, room projects, high-occupancy operations, and other Housekeeping initiatives as assigned.

Maintenance and Quality

  • Inspect rooms for maintenance defects, damage, wear, unsafe conditions, and damaged hotel property.
  • Report maintenance issues and room defects through the hotel's approved reporting system.
  • Follow up on authorized maintenance issues before rooms are released for occupancy.
  • Comply with brand standards, Housekeeping SOPs, inspections, quality requirements, grooming, and uniform standards.

Health, Safety, and Environment

  • Follow hotel health, safety, hygiene, fire, security, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Use chemicals, equipment, tools, and machinery according to approved instructions and training.
  • Use correct chemical dilution, avoid unauthorized chemical mixing, and use PPE when required.
  • Follow safe manual handling, incident reporting, emergency, waste segregation, and sustainability procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school education or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous housekeeping, hotel operations, cleaning services, or hospitality experience is preferred or advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and safe chemical handling is preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and hotel SOPs is required.
  • Basic English communication skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and commitment to cleanliness are required.

Physical and Working Requirements

  • The role requires prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, pushing housekeeping equipment, and safely handling linen and supplies.
  • The employee must be able to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
  • The employee must maintain quality and productivity standards during busy operational periods.
