Position Summary

The Registered Nurse works in the Thoracic and Respirology Unit at Toronto General Hospital.

The nurse provides compassionate, collaborative, and competent care within a multidisciplinary team.

Practice must meet relevant legislation, professional standards, UHN policies, and ethical requirements.

Duties

  • Apply nursing science, theory, skills, and critical decision-making in patient care.
  • Maintain practice consistent with College of Nurses of Ontario and UHN standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and lifelong professional learning.
  • Use reflective practice to improve nursing and patient care quality.
  • Perform cross-functional and other assigned responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Previous thoracic surgery or respirology experience is required.
  • Knowledge of or experience with chest tube maintenance and removal is required.
  • Knowledge of the Thopaz System is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, decision-making, organizational, time-management, and computer skills are required.
  • The candidate must meet the physical requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualification

  • A BScN degree is preferred.

Schedule and Employment

  • The position is permanent part-time at 15 hours per week.
  • Shifts are 12 hours and include days and nights.

Compensation

  • The wage range is $41.15 to $58.98 per hour.
  • The start rate is non-negotiable and follows collective agreement requirements.

Workplace

  • The work site is Toronto General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
  • The role requires in-person clinical work in a hospital patient-care unit.
