Position Overview
This replacement position is for a Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy department at Toronto General Hospital.
The nurse reports to the Nurse Manager and works as part of the UHN Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team.
The role provides pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for Endoscopy patients, including ERCP.
Schedule and Status
- Hours are up to 15 per week, with 7.5-hour day shifts from Monday to Friday.
- Various start times are available, including 0700, 0730, 0800, and 0900.
- The listed status is Casual.
Compensation
- The wage range is $41.15–$58.98 per hour.
- The starting rate is non-negotiable and follows collective agreement requirements.
Duties
- Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care using nursing science, theory, clinical skills, and critical decision-making.
- Practice consistently with professional standards, legislation, ethical requirements, and UHN policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuing education and perform reflective practice to improve nursing and patient care quality.
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for patients undergoing Endoscopy procedures, including ERCP.
- Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team and perform cross-functional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved nursing program is required, while a BScN is preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Level II Basic Rescuer and ACLS certifications are required.
- A current certificate of competency and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario are required.
- A Physical Health Assessment Course and previous Endoscopy nursing experience are required.
- Two years each of recent medical and surgical nursing experience, including IV insertion and vascular access, are required.
- Coronary Care 1 certification and critical care experience are preferred.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, organization, time management, communication, patient teaching, and teamwork skills are required.
- The nurse must be able to use information technology, wear a lead apron, work under pressure, and meet the physical demands of the job.
