Job Overview
- The Psychiatrist Consultant is responsible for comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of adult patients with mental health disorders.
- This role delivers high quality, evidence based psychiatric care through accurate diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments for adult patients.
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric disorders using evidence based clinical practices.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non pharmacological interventions.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications while evaluating treatment effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Provide psychiatric consultations and clinical recommendations to patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions while ensuring continuity of care throughout the patient's treatment journey.
- Assess patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies, including suicide risk, self harm, aggression, and severe mental illness, and provide appropriate interventions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, treatment planning meetings, and clinical governance activities.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, international clinical guidelines, ethical standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, continuing medical education, and professional development activities.
