Job Overview

  • The Senior Power Supply Team leader will be responsible to lead a team of Power Supply Technicians to provide effective maintenance services covering Mian power substations and Power Supply facilities for Dubai Metro.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of power supply system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerised maintenance management system.
  • Lead and conduct periodical electrical testing, stress testing, check motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, circuit breakers and gas insulated switches, generator windings, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of
  • Support financial planning for equipment replacement, upgrades, and refurbishment based on lifecycle analysis.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations from both technical and financial aspects and ensure cost effective sourcing of materials and services.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory levels to balance availability and carrying costs.
  • Reduce obsolete stock and improve inventory turnover.
  • Report incidents or events that impact on safety and/or maintenance performance to the QHSE, PDS Engineer and OCC Duty Manager in a timely manner.
  • Provides technical input and influence to support cross departmental collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead a team of Power Supply Technicians out in the field to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications on power supply system covering H.V. traction power supplies, stray current & EMC monitoring, sub stations, L.V. systems & emergency power suppl
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Power Supply Engineer;
  • Assist the Power Supply Engineer and/or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects;
  • Supervise and diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment, replace faulty equipment and handover/taken back to the electrical workshop for repair;

Educational Qualifications

  • Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a qualified power supply maintenance technician in maintaining and repairing power supply and distribution system preferably in a rail or power utilities industry.
  • Preferably with 1 year of supervisory experience in supervising a team of qualified power supply maintenance technicians in carrying out the maintenance activities.

Skills / Training

  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge and experience in operating SCADA control and configuring programmable logic controllers is essential.
  • Ability to use and calibrate various electrical and electronics test equipment and PC for the maintenance of power supply system.
  • Ability to write technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast paced, team oriented environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
