Job Purpose
Maintain hotel equipment and building systems to a high standard under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor or designate.
Help ensure an efficient engineering maintenance process and a high-quality guest experience.
Technical Maintenance
- Test and maintain plant, water, pumps, boilers, and fire systems.
- Carry out plumbing, piping, water system, pool equipment, fire pump, and boiler servicing.
- Complete planned preventive maintenance checks.
- Repair or replace bathroom and toilet fixtures in guest rooms, back-of-house, and public areas.
- Perform other maintenance work and respond to plant emergencies and callouts.
Coordination and Supervision
- Source and contract suppliers and liaise with contractors and suppliers.
- Organize work schedules, methods, and risk assessments for plant-related areas.
- Supervise the maintenance team and external contractors to ensure deadlines and standards are met.
- Conduct contractor safety inductions and maintain records of work completed.
- Plan small guest projects to minimize operational impact.
Safety and Operations
- Monitor water hygiene and record results.
- Keep health and safety records up to date and support emergency response as part of the fire team.
- Monitor hotel utility readings to support power management.
- Participate in the hotel energy conservation program.
- Attend on-the-job training and follow departmental standards and procedures.
Administrative Duties
Supervise the issue and safe return of Engineering department tools.
Raise, accept, and monitor purchase orders.
Accept deliveries in an appropriate and timely manner.
Remain aware of regulatory and environmental changes.
Requirements
- Maintain and service plumbing, piping, water systems, pool equipment, fire pumps, and boilers.
- Maintain current health and safety records and follow applicable legislation and regulations.
- Organize work schedules, methods, and risk assessments for plant-related areas.
- Be available for plant emergencies and emergency callouts.
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, deliveries, and purchase orders.
- Supervise maintenance team members and external contractors to required standards and deadlines.
- Participate in departmental training and follow engineering procedures.
