Position Description

Position Responsibilities

• Create treatment plans for eye movement problems and binocular vision.
• Work with ophthalmologists on surgical planning for selected eye movement disorders.
• Explain eye disorders and treatment plans to patients.
• Measure vision using optometry technology and determine the need for glasses or contact lenses.
• Examine causes of vision and visual field impairments.
• Develop treatment plans involving eye patches, eye exercises, or prisms when appropriate.
• Perform visual acuity testing, autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, and lensometry.
• Perform refraction, retinoscopy, orthoptic assessment, amblyopia therapy, and prescribing of prismatic glasses.
• Refer patients for further diagnostic tests when required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and monitor patients' treatment progress.
• Complete essential administrative duties related to patient care.
• Participate in service improvement initiatives and audits.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Optometry, or Doctor of Optometry qualification.
• Dubai Health Authority license.
• At least five years of experience as an Optometrist.
• Knowledge of Quality Improvement methodologies and clinical practice guidelines, protocols, and pathways.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation standards.
