Role Overview

Oversee transportation and customs processes and provide customer service for imported and exported shipments.

The role includes supervision of departmental activities, staff performance, compliance, documentation, and operational projects.

Schedule

  • The scheduled shift is 4:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
  • The role includes a flexible schedule outside normal business hours and an after-hours on-call rotation.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervise departmental activities, staff performance, meetings, training, and work assignments.
  • Review shipment documents for accuracy and compliance with federal and foreign regulations.
  • Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weights, and volumes for merchandise.
  • Coordinate with customs officials to release freight and resolve delays.
  • Establish and monitor policies and service standards for customs clearance operations.

Client and Process Oversight

  • Identify concerns in client import and export processes through audits, performance monitoring, and client reviews.
  • Communicate operational progress and problems to the operations manager.
  • Participate in or supervise projects related to the assigned area.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED and at least four years of related experience are required.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related business, logistics, transportation, finance, or supply chain discipline is preferred.
  • Three years of industry experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, hazmat regulations, and recordkeeping.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, web-based, and job-specific software applications.
  • Ability to analyze problems, present alternatives, implement solutions, interpret regulations, and write business documents.
