Role Overview

Oversee daily operations of international transportation and customs brokerage activities on the second shift.

Supervise export, customs house brokerage, or gateway operations under federal and foreign shipment regulations.

Provide customer service and lead staff performance, compliance, and continuous improvement activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain customer service and performance statistics and support staff and customer retention and training.
  • Review shipment documents, invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weights, and merchandise volumes.
  • Communicate with customs officials to obtain freight release and resolve delays.
  • Establish, monitor, and revise customs clearance policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Audit shipment documents and accounting and identify concerns in client import and export processes.
  • Communicate progress and problems to the operations manager and conduct staff meetings.
  • Address employee performance problems and supervise department projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills are required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least four years of related experience and one year of supervisory experience are required.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, Hazmat regulations, and recordkeeping is required.
  • PC literacy and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based, and job-specific software are required.
  • The role requires effective communication, problem analysis, planning, delegation, accountability, and collaborative leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in international business, logistics, supply chain management, transportation, finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Three years of industry experience is preferred.
  • Some professional certifications may be required for this position.

Schedule

  • The role requires a flexible work schedule that may include work outside normal business hours and an after-hours on-call rotation.
