Role Overview
Junior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role supporting commissioning of a 200MW data center project.
The position verifies, tests, and documents mechanical systems against the Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design.
Commissioning Activities
- Support commissioning plans, test scripts, and functional performance tests for mechanical systems.
- Test chillers, CRAH or CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, piping, air handling units, and BMS integration.
- Witness and document factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests.
- Assist with pre-functional checklists, startup verification, and Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning activities.
Documentation and Coordination
- Track punch lists and deficiency logs and follow up with contractors on corrective actions.
- Review mechanical shop drawings, submittals, and operation and maintenance documentation.
- Support integrated systems testing among mechanical, electrical, and controls trades.
- Maintain commissioning records, test data, and reports to CxA documentation standards.
- Attend site walks, coordination meetings, and commissioning progress meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- One to three years of experience in mechanical commissioning, MEP construction, or building services.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water plants, and hyperscale data center cooling infrastructure.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1, IPMVP, or an equivalent commissioning standard.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to BMS or controls platforms is preferred.
- Experience under a formal CxA scope on large-scale or mission-critical projects is preferred.
- CCP or ATP certification, or progress toward chartership, is preferred.
