AHB prioritises a disciplined approach to risk, recognising its fundamental importance to the Bank’s long-term organisational and financial resilience.
Group Risk Management oversees the implementation of AHB's risk objectives, identifying and addressing gaps in the bank's risk infrastructure/framework.
Their responsibilities include nurturing the independence of the risk function, establishing provisioning policies, and introducing changes to energise risk awareness among front office personnel and decision-makers.
Continuously tuning the risk organisation in line with market best practices, they manage AHB's portfolio and associated risks to international standards, while establishing a clear risk culture across all areas of operation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly reviews of Retail Credit portfolios (Personal Loans, Auto Loans, Mortgages, Credit Cards) to monitor performance and identify emerging risks.
- Identify portfolio trends, concentration risks, and early warning signals, recommending appropriate mitigation actions.
- Monitor risk appetite metrics and ensure any breaches are promptly addressed and escalated.
- Coordinate with Finance, IT, Operations, and Collections to ensure data accuracy, model alignment, and effective forecasting.
- Ensure full compliance with UAE Central Bank and AECB requirements across all Retail portfolios.
- Validate accuracy of AECB data submissions and implement any changes to reporting requirements.
- Manage quarterly and annual regulatory submissions (RFIs) to the Central Bank, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Oversee validation of all regulatory data submissions, including PD/LGD reporting to Group for onward submission.
- Analyze portfolio performance, including delinquency and loss trends, ensuring alignment with budget and forecasts.
- Support development and enhancement of credit risk strategies, scorecards, and underwriting policies.
- Assess portfolio risk under different economic and market scenarios and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of provisioning data to Group.
- Conclude monthly provisions and oversee real estate portfolio valuations in line with Central Bank requirements.
- Support new product launches by ensuring end-to-end risk coverage and appropriate controls are in place.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and regulators to ensure alignment on risk, reporting, and compliance matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 5 -6+ years of banking experience, with a focus on Retail Credit Risk.
- Strong knowledge of UAE Central Bank regulations and AECB reporting requirements.
- Experience in portfolio analytics, risk reporting, and credit risk frameworks (including PD/LGD and provisioning).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify risks, and provide actionable insights.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and work across multiple functions in a fast-paced environment
- UAE experience is mandatory
