- About the business area - Group Risk Management
- ADCB prioritises a disciplined approach to risk, recognising its fundamental importance to the Bank’s long-term organisational and financial resilience.
- Group Risk Management oversees the implementation of ADCB's risk objectives, identifying and addressing gaps in the bank's risk infrastructure/framework.
- Their responsibilities include nurturing the independence of the risk function, establishing provisioning policies, and introducing changes to energise risk awareness among front office personnel and decision-makers.
- Continuously tuning the risk organisation in line with market best practices, they manage ADCB's portfolio and associated risks to international standards, while establishing a clear risk culture across all areas of operation.
- In this role, your key responsibilities include
- :
- Manages the implementation of customer service standards across AHB to ensure provision of efficient service and customer satisfaction.
- Provides periodic reports indicating key highlights to the senior management and stakeholders.
- Participates in the setting of standards and provides expert inputs in the creation of the risk governance processes in order to ensure implementation of the operational risk management framework meeting local regulator, Basel and AHB's expectations and requirements.
- Manages the review and maintenance of operational risk management framework and tools to facilitate effective identification, assessment, reporting, monitoring and mitigation of operational risks by risk and control owners in AHB.
- Manages the implementation of the Operational Risk action plans to ensure that the established controls are operating effectively as intended in the established P&P, internal control framework.
- Provides relevant tools and required training to Business Risk Control Managers (BRCM) and risk owners to increase awareness of the operational risk process and assist the business in managing their operational risks.
- Manages the review of policies and procedures, new initiatives and system changes to ensure that Operational Risk matters have been effectively assessed and mitigating controls are considered.
- Monitors KRIs, heatmaps and risk profile with the aim of holistic reporting and analysis of the operational risk environment, emerging risk factors, losses as well as near misses in a timely and accurate manner, as well as monitoring preventative thresholds and trends.
- Attends various seminars/forums or working groups arranged by regulators or AHB Group in order to be up-to-date with the developments in the industry and region and understand best practices.
- Guides monthly discussions on business control heatmaps with the business in order to ensure implementation of action plans.
- Supports AD, Operational Risk in conducting the risk assessment to ensure that AHB fully identifies and effectively manages operational risks in a cost effective manner consistent with the bank’s risk appetite.
- Keeps abreast of developments within the industry in order to implement these developments within AHB.
- The ideal candidate should have the following experience
- At least 7+ years of banking experience of which 2-5 years in operational risk management or internal audit
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration or equivalent
- Knowledge of Risk Management
- Knowledge of Compliance and Operational Risk Management
- Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance requirements
