The Manager Buying **(SPORTS WEAR / ACTIVE WEAR / ATHLEISURE)** will be responsible for developing and executing the overall buying strategy for the sportswear category.
This pivotal role involves leading a team to identify market trends, negotiate with suppliers, manage inventory, and ensure the delivery of a compelling product assortment that meets customer demand and achieves financial targets.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the sportswear market, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record in retail buying and merchandising.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive buying strategies for all sportswear categories, aligning with the company's overall business objectives and brand vision.
- Conduct in-depth market research, trend analysis, and competitive landscape assessments to identify emerging trends, new product opportunities, and consumer preferences within the sportswear sector.
- Manage the entire product lifecycle from selection to discontinuance, ensuring a balanced and profitable assortment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and payment conditions to maximize profitability and product availability.
- Oversee inventory management, including forecasting demand, optimizing stock levels, minimizing overstock and out-of-stock situations, and driving efficient stock turns.
- Analyze sales performance, margin reports, and other key metrics to make informed buying decisions, identify areas for improvement, and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, e-commerce, and operations teams to ensure cohesive product launches, promotional activities, and a seamless customer experience.
- Manage the departmental budget, ensuring all buying activities are within allocated financial parameters and contribute to achieving sales, margin, and profitability targets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers and assistant buyers, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring continuous professional growth.
- Ensure product quality, compliance with industry standards, and adherence to ethical sourcing practices.
- Stay abreast of global and local sportswear market dynamics, technological advancements, and competitor strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
