Position Overview

The Resident Product Engineering team is a plant-based engineering organization responsible for resolving product issues affecting vehicles in production.

This Engineering Manager role leads the team supporting body structures, closures, and low-voltage harness systems across production vehicle programs.

The role focuses on production issue triage, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and cross-functional escalation management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the resident product engineering organization, set priorities, balance workload, develop engineers, and build capability.
  • Own production and field concern triage through risk assessment, containment, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and verification.
  • Manage plant escalations involving build, assembly, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing while balancing safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer impact.
  • Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, production, quality, supplier, service, supply chain, purchasing, and program teams.
  • Support launch, ramp, and Safe Launch activities and incorporate production learnings into future programs.
  • Improve standard work, escalation forums, issue management, reporting, and problem-solving discipline.

Required Skills

  • Experience with structured problem solving, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle structures, closures, and/or low-voltage electrical distribution systems is required.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, DFA, PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, Safe Launch, VMEA/FMEA, 8D, or PPS is required.
  • Experience with Jira, PLM, issue management systems, and production quality data is required.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and collegiate FSAE, BAJA, or similar experience are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of automotive product engineering experience, including production, launch, sustaining engineering, or resident engineering exposure.
  • The provided qualification text lists a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
