Role Overview

The Body-in-White Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager deploys new products and equipment at Lucid.

The role works with project management, vehicle integration, design engineering, logistics, new product introduction, operations, and other teams.

The position ensures the Body-in-White manufacturing line is built to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate RFQs for Body-in-White equipment and evaluate integrator proposals.
  • Review project phases through start of production and follow up on open issues.
  • Execute and document FAT and SAT buyoffs with integrators.
  • Assess product, production process, and manufacturing technology risks and optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain risk assessments and report project updates to Manufacturing leadership.
  • Maintain equipment project charters and monitor design-change effects on equipment budgets and timelines.
  • Coordinate requirements integration, issue-resolution meetings, installation planning, and facility installations.
  • Support line launch readiness and handoff, create schedules, and monitor engineering KPIs.
  • Lead lessons learned, knowledge sharing, and Design for Manufacturing reviews.
  • Drive PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Standard Work creation.
  • Define BIW manufacturing strategies and develop processes for welding, adhesives, riveting, hemming, and closure assembly.
  • Lead dimensional control, body accuracy, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, fit-and-finish optimization, and Lean improvements focused on safety, quality, OEE, throughput, productivity, and cost.

Skills

  • Automotive industry experience is required.
  • The role requires detail orientation, organization, influence, initiative, and clear professional communication.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and AutoCAD is required.
  • Working knowledge of Catia and Delmia is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience across multiple product design and manufacturing functions are required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years of Body-in-White engineering or project management experience is required.
