Solus Canada is an Aviva-owned network of auto body collision shops operating across Ontario and Quebec, with plans to expand nationally.
The main Solus site is in Mississauga and is approximately 50,000 square feet.
The Opportunity
The Health & Safety Manager will lead all aspects of a separate Health and Safety program for Solus Canada.
The role will build and implement a new Health and Safety Management System covering governance, regulatory alignment, reporting, audits, and employee and visitor welfare.
The position partners with senior executives and stakeholders across Solus Canada and Aviva Claims to drive safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain a Health and Safety Management System for auto body collision repair operations.
- Investigate incidents, hazards, and risks, and implement appropriate controls and corrective actions.
- Develop safety training programs and coordinate legislative training with third-party providers.
- Conduct shop visits, vendor reviews, audits, risk assessments, inspections, and safety committee activities across multiple locations.
- Work with HR, Risk, Facilities, Operations, and site leaders to maintain compliance.
- Promote safety culture, employee engagement, leadership accountability, and effective safety communication.
- Prepare and present health and safety updates to the Solus leadership team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Occupational Health and Safety certificate.
- First Aid training.
- At least five years of progressive experience in a health and safety management role.
- Computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, management systems, risk analysis, regulatory compliance, and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Bilingual English and French capability is preferred.
- Auto repair sector experience is preferred.
- Project management experience is an asset.
Work Model
- The position follows a hybrid flexible work model.
Compensation and Benefits
- The salary band is $90,000 to $120,000, with individual salary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
