Role Overview
Join the Process Engineering Division as a Forging Process Engineer.
Develop, validate, and improve open-die forging processes to achieve deformation, grain flow, dimensional, metallurgical, and productivity targets.
Technical Operations
- Prepare forging routes, reduction plans, heating parameters, and handling instructions.
- Develop work instructions, SOPs, and travelers for open-die forging production.
- Define forging windows, deformation ratios, critical control points, heating plans, and operation sequences.
- Develop Manufacturing Process Specifications with commercial feasibility in mind.
- Support simulation, die and tooling reviews, first-article production plans, and prototype evaluations.
- Investigate forging defects and dimensional or metallurgical issues.
- Coordinate with melting, heat treatment, machining, quality assurance, and production teams.
- Troubleshoot and drive continuous improvement of forging processes.
Quality and Optimization
- Define product quality standards throughout the open-die forging process.
- Prepare EHS requirements for the forging shop.
- Analyze quality problems and establish corrective countermeasures.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
