Responsibilities
- Execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines
- Work with the customer (while on site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points
- Perform field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on site activity in service categories and products
- Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensure that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality
- Troubleshoot equipment/process failures, request proactive corrective actions, and make recommendations to avoid future issues
Requirements
- Graduate Engineer in instrumentation, Electrical or Equivalent Engineering degree
- Minimum 8 years of experience with at least 5 years as customer support / project / service engineer of System 800xA based safety systems
- Good hands on experience in system 800xA based integrated control and safety system (both hardware and software)
- Knowledge of FSMS (functional safety management system)
- Knowledge of Functional safety technical standards IEC61511, IEC61508
- Hands on Experience in Industrial networking, network switch configuration
- Hands on experience in Cyber security for 800xA based systems
- Hands on Experience in industrial communication protocols like Modbus RTU & TCP, OPC, etc.

Role Overview
- In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
- You will plan and execute work on a first time right approach with customers.
- You will showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.
Main Accountabilities
- Working with the customer (while on site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
- Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on site activity in service categories and products.
- Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
- Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.
Qualifications
- Graduate Engineer in instrumentation, Electrical or Equivalent Engineering degree.
- Must have minimum 8 years of experience of at least 5 years as customer support / project / service engineer of System 800xA based safety systems preferably in Oil & Gas / Power & Water industry.
- Good hands on experience in system 800xA based integrated control and safety system (both hardware and software) is a Must have with AC800M HI library based application development – project & commissioning.
- Knowledge of FSMS (functional safety management system) is a Must have for this role and valid Functional Safety certifications preferred such as TUV FS engineer, ABB certifications etc.
- Knowledge of Functional safety technical standards IEC61511, IEC61508 and corresponding system engineering practice experience.
- Hands on Experience in Industrial networking, network switch configuration.
- Hands on experience in Cyber security for 800xA based systems.
- Be an analytical thinker, self starter, resilient and highly adaptable in line with ABB’s latest advance service & digital portfolio.
- Hands on Experience in industrial communication protocols like Modbus RTU & TCP, OPC, etc.
