Estimation Engineer

Work arrangement

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
• Prepare material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Develop quantity take-offs and bills of quantities where required.
• Analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations for cost and technical compliance.
• Obtain and evaluate pricing information for competitive estimates.
• Prepare commercial proposals, cost summaries, and estimation reports.
• Identify cost risks, exclusions, assumptions, and potential variations.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, project, and commercial teams.
• Monitor market pricing and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
• Support post-bid reviews and improve future estimating processes.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in estimation, quantity surveying, engineering, or project costing is preferred.
• Strong understanding of cost estimation, quantity take-offs, pricing, and tender preparation.
• Knowledge of construction or engineering project requirements and commercial principles.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, estimating tools, and professional cost report preparation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify cost discrepancies.
• Good communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and priorities independently.
