Role Overview
The Specialist Systems and Platforms group builds software that helps internal support teams operate securely, safely, and efficiently.

- The role is based in Sydney.
- Canva uses a hybrid working model that combines remote work with in-person collaboration on campus.
What You'll Do
- Coach, mentor, and grow engineers while fostering psychological safety and a culture of innovation.
- Lead technical strategy and roadmap development with program managers, enablement teams, and engineering teams.
- Drive planning and refinement of team goals across platform robustness, enablement impact, and engineering practices.
- Facilitate collaboration from spikes and MVPs through full integration on a common foundation.
- Champion engineering quality, AI governance, and contribution standards.
- Align prioritization and resourcing with User Voice leadership.
- Support AI systems and agents that resolve customer problems through local workflows and automated solutions.

- Experienced engineering manager with a proven record of leading teams and delivering at scale.
- Strong backend engineering depth and sound architectural decision-making ability.
- Genuine interest in AI and LLM-powered products and their practical application at scale.
- Ability to balance reliability, scalability, and governance with user and business outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills for translating platform work into business value and building cross-functional trust.
