Job summary
Oversee health, safety, security, and environmental management across a zone containing multiple building projects or a major single project.
Lead construction-specific HSSE systems, UAE regulatory compliance, risk management, and onsite HSSE teams.
Enforce safety protocols, mitigate risks, and promote a safety-first culture aligned with corporate and client requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Develop HSE policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans for multiple projects or a large construction site.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessments for high-risk construction activities.
- Supervise HSSE officers and coordinators across project locations.
- Conduct inspections, audits, walkthroughs, and permit-to-work compliance reviews.
- Manage incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate HSSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with UAE labour, municipal, ministry, and civil defence requirements.
- Oversee emergency preparedness, drills, contractor performance, documentation, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related technical discipline.
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice or an equivalent advanced professional safety qualification.
- At least 15 years of progressive HSSE experience in construction or building contracting.
- At least four years in a managerial role overseeing multiple projects or large-scale construction operations.
- Seven years of experience with high-rise building projects.
Preferred certifications
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or Lead Implementer certification is highly preferred.
- IOSH Chartered Membership, Certified Safety Professional, and ISO 14001 qualifications are highly preferred.
