Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as directed by senior chefs
- Prepare mise en place for daily operations and ensure station readiness before service
- Support steak, grill, hot kitchen, or cold section preparation as assigned
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated following FIFO standards
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the assigned kitchen section
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards at all times
- Assist with portioning, plating, and food presentation according to restaurant standards
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is handled and maintained properly
- Support stock control and report shortages or wastage to senior chefs
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations
Requirements
- Minimum 1 2 years of kitchen experience, preferably in a steakhouse, grill restaurant, or upscale casual dining
- Basic culinary knowledge and food preparation skills
- Understanding of food hygiene and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure
- Team player with willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Job Purpose
- The Commis Chef is responsible for supporting the kitchen team in food preparation, mise en place, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.
- The role ensures smooth kitchen operations and consistent food quality in line with Rowley’s Restaurant standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as directed by senior chefs.
- Prepare mise en place for daily operations and ensure station readiness before service.
- Support steak, grill, hot kitchen, or cold section preparation as assigned.
- Ensure ingredients are properly stored, labeled, and rotated following FIFO standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Understanding of food hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure.
