Novotel Hotels is hiring a Commis 1 - Cold to join its kitchen team.
The role supports culinary operations, food preparation, customer service, and kitchen standards.
What You Will Be Doing
- Prepare, arrange, and serve food according to standards set by the sous chef.
- Prepare the workstation and mise en place according to daily requirements and part-stock lists.
- Monitor the working setup and mise en place of assigned staff.
- Support breakfast and 24-hour à la carte service while maintaining the correct service sequence.
- Control portion sizes and presentation before dishes are handed to the pass.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas and equipment.
- Follow ordering procedures and ensure every order is processed through a captain order.
- Report irregularities or problems to the sous chef immediately.
- Complete handover to the responsible supervisor at the end of the shift.
- Assist the chef de partie with assigned duties.
- Learn and apply daily specials, promotions, menu offerings, and recipes.
- Attend training, make improvement suggestions, and follow hotel hygiene and safety procedures.
Experience and Skills
- A bachelor's degree, diploma, or certification in culinary studies is required.
- Five-star hotel or relevant industry experience is required.
- The candidate should be creative, passionate about food and customer service, and able to work under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and teamwork are required.
- Knowledge of first aid is required.
- Current UAE residence and immediate availability are advantageous.
Standards and Procedures
- The role requires adherence to hotel policies, personal hygiene standards, safety rules, accident procedures, and fire and evacuation procedures.
- The role includes applying Accor environmental charter requirements and relevant ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 policies and procedures.
- The role requires delivery of the 15-Minutes Guest Satisfaction Guarantee Service according to IBIS standards.
