Automotive Workshop Team Leader

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the proper allocation of work orders to Technicians.
• Ensure Technicians accurately clock on and off individual work operations.
• Monitor repair progress to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
• Coordinate closely with Service Advisors to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
• Ensure Technicians maintain productivity and efficiency during working hours.
• Review work orders to ensure all repair instructions are clear and complete.
• Support, mentor, and guide Technicians in daily workshop operations.
• Personally assist in resolving repeat repair issues promptly and effectively.
• Assess customer concerns through inspections, road tests, or other suitable methods when required.
• Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer procedures and workshop standards.
• Verify the proper use of tools and equipment by Technicians.
• Translate customer concerns into clear technical instructions.
• Coordinate with manufacturers regarding technical support and reporting requirements.
• Promote workplace safety, environmental awareness, and protection of customer property.
• Review and assess repair quality and complete quality control documentation where applicable.
• Report work quality, tooling, and resource issues to the Workshop Manager.
• Minimize downtime through organized and disciplined workshop practices.
• Support Service Advisors during diagnostic procedures and vehicle handovers when required.
• Perform additional duties assigned by senior management to support company objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified and experienced Automotive Technician with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Automotive or related field.
• Valid driving license is mandatory.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks without compromising quality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Positive attitude with a fair and professional approach.
• Computer literate with knowledge of office automation systems and workshop software.
