About the Role
Salt is hiring a Workflow Engineer (Orkes Conductor Specialist) for a 6-month contract with a UAE financial institution. You will design and build the orchestration backbone of an Agentic AI platform, using Orkes Conductor to define durable workflows for banking processes.

- Design and implement complex workflows using Orkes Conductor
- Build task sequences, parallel execution flows, sub workflows, and SLA driven orchestration logic
- Configure Human Task routing for operational review queues and implement HITL approval workflows
- Design compensating transaction workflows for downstream failures
- Implement idempotency patterns using awa job id deduplication
- Configure retry strategies including exponential backoff, jitter, circuit breakers, and DLQ handling
- Integrate Orkes workflows with LangGraph agent execution models
- Export workflow metrics into Azure Monitor / Log Analytics and build KQL queries
- Own end to end workflow design for new banking AI use cases
- Ensure awa job id propagation across all workflow steps and validate end to end traceability
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in workflow orchestration or distributed systems engineering
- Hands on experience with Orkes Conductor, Apache Conductor, Temporal or Apache Airflow
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts: idempotency, eventual consistency, saga patterns, at least once delivery
- Experience designing long running, durable workflows with human approval steps
- Strong REST API knowledge (especially async and webhook based patterns)
- Experience with JSON/YAML based workflow definitions
- Python or Java for workflow worker implementation

Role Overview

Advantageous Experience
- Direct experience with Orkes Conductor (Orkes Cloud / SDK / Human Tasks)
- Familiarity with LangGraph or LangChain and agentic AI systems
- Kafka or event driven architecture (consumer groups, event triggers)
- Azure Monitor / Log Analytics / KQL
- Banking domain knowledge: straight through processing, clearing and settlement workflows, exception handling and reconciliation processes
