Role Purpose

Lead and coordinate detailed design of the Systems Package for a high-speed rail project.

Provide technical governance, multidisciplinary design coordination, assurance, and interface management across Trackwork, OCS, Yellow Plant, RAMS, cyber security requirements management, and configuration management.

Technical Leadership and Design

  • Lead detailed design for Trackwork, OCS, Yellow Plant, and associated system elements.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Oversee design reports, calculations, drawings, BoQs, and IFC deliverables.
  • Direct track engineering for ballastless and ballasted systems, alignment, clearances, and dynamic envelope requirements.
  • Manage OCS foundations, earthing and bonding, steel columns, mechanical and electrical layouts, and traction power integration.

Yellow Plant and RAMS

  • Oversee integration of maintenance vehicles, inspection units, tampers, grinders, maintenance locomotives, and depot or IMF requirements.
  • Ensure Yellow Plant compatibility with track, OCS, maintenance access, and safety standards.
  • Lead RAMS activities, hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation actions across the Systems Package.

Interfaces and Requirements

  • Manage interfaces with civil works, structures, depots or IMFs, rolling stock, signaling, telecoms, power, utilities, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain Interface Control Documents and resolve interface issues.
  • Capture, allocate, validate, and maintain traceability of system, design, and third-party requirements.
  • Establish configuration control for design baselines and documentation and manage revisions and deviations.

Stakeholders and Assurance

  • Liaise with the client, engineer, contractors, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Lead technical meetings and design reviews and close out comments.
  • Provide progress, technical, and risk reports.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements and support design audits and assurance evidence compilation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 15+ years of railway systems design experience, preferably in high-speed rail.
  • Strong background in Trackwork, OCS, or multi-system rail packages.
  • Experience with Yellow Plant integration, RAMS, requirements management, and configuration control.
  • Familiarity with rail standards and systems engineering practices.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing interfaces.
