Position Overview

Lead technical support, product and application development, customer trials, product approvals, troubleshooting, and technical positioning for a polymer portfolio.

Act as the technical bridge between customers, suppliers, sales teams, and management to support growth, commercialization, and customer satisfaction.

The portfolio includes commodity polymers, engineering plastics, specialty polymers, masterbatches, filler compounds, additives, recycled materials, and sustainable polymer solutions.

Technical and Application Support

  • Provide technical leadership across PE, PP, PS, PVC, PET, EVA, engineering plastics, masterbatches, fillers, additives, recycled polymers, and specialty products.
  • Recommend polymer grades and solutions based on applications, processing conditions, machinery, and required performance.
  • Troubleshoot processing and product-performance issues using practical technical recommendations.
  • Evaluate MFI/MFR, density, mechanical properties, thermal properties, processing behaviour, end-use requirements, and regulatory standards.

Processing and Trials

  • Support blown film, injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion, pipe and profile extrusion, sheet extrusion, thermoforming, compounding, recycling, and packaging applications.
  • Identify root causes of processing problems and recommend adjustments to raw materials, formulations, process parameters, or product grades.
  • Plan and lead customer trials, product evaluations, technical validation, and approval processes.
  • Document trial parameters, observations, results, corrective actions, and recommendations.

Product Development and Commercial Support

  • Identify product and application opportunities with suppliers, customers, and commercial teams.
  • Support product development, product benchmarking, grade substitution, and technical value propositions for sales teams.
  • Support customer conversion, product introductions, technical meetings, and business-development activities.
  • Align technical activities with business objectives, customer satisfaction, product quality, QHSE requirements, and company policies.

Supplier, Documentation, and Training

  • Coordinate supplier technical specifications, product performance information, customer requirements, approvals, and application-development initiatives.
  • Review TDS, SDS/MSDS, COA, FDA, REACH, RoHS, and other relevant compliance documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, trial reports, comparison sheets, application notes, case studies, presentations, and recommendation documents.
  • Deliver technical training to sales teams, distributors, and customers and maintain records of trials, approvals, feedback, and development activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical discipline; relevant technical diplomas with substantial experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in plastics processing, converting, compounding, recycling, masterbatch manufacturing, or technical service.
  • Hands-on exposure to plastics manufacturing and processing environments is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of polymers, masterbatches, compounds, additives, recycled materials, applications, and multiple processing technologies.
  • Experience supporting customer trials, product approvals, troubleshooting, application development, and grade conversion is essential.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced understanding of polymer properties, processing behaviour, material selection, application requirements, and performance evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of MFI/MFR, density, tensile strength, elongation, impact strength, flexural modulus, ash, moisture, dispersion, and thermal properties.
  • Ability to understand interactions among raw materials, formulations, machine settings, processing conditions, and finished-product performance.
  • Ability to assess competitor grades and recommend suitable alternatives or substitutes.
  • Strong knowledge of trial methodologies, product qualification, technical approvals, and commercialization processes.
