Technical Engineer - Fire Door

Role overview

Technical and sales support

• Provide expert advice on fire door types, frame systems, ironmongery and installation methods to meet fire performance and regulatory standards.
• Support pre-sales activities through site surveys, technical clarifications, client meetings, product demonstrations and proposal preparation.
• Prepare technical documentation, door schedules, specification notes and installation guidance.
• Develop and present technical and commercial solutions, including value engineering options, to clients and internal stakeholders.

Project coordination and compliance

• Coordinate with estimation, design, fabrication and installation teams to review drawings, verify buildability and assess programme implications.
• Maintain records of technical decisions, site surveys, correspondence and client requirements in CRM and project management systems.
• Identify technical issues and risks, propose pragmatic solutions and coordinate corrective actions.
• Visit sites during installation and handover to verify workmanship, resolve queries and certify compliance with specifications and statutory requirements.
• Keep current with fire safety legislation, BS EN standards, Building Regulations, product developments and market practice.

Qualifications and experience

• A relevant technical qualification in building services, fire protection, construction or engineering is desirable.
• Typically two to five years of experience with fire door systems, passive fire protection or building fabric is required.
• Proven selling skills and experience supporting pre-sales, preparing proposals and presenting technical or commercial solutions are required.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire doors, frames, ironmongery, installation methods and relevant standards is required.

Communication and systems

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for explaining complex technical information clearly.
• Problem-solving ability and a practical approach to corrective actions are required.
• CAD drawings, spreadsheets, CRM and project management systems proficiency is required; estimating software familiarity is advantageous.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to attend site visits and supplier meetings are required.

Location and travel

• The role is located in Dubai, UAE, and includes site visits during installation and handover and supplier meetings as required.
