Role Overview
The Corporate Tax Director will lead complex engagements across the UAE for multinational groups, regional conglomerates, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds.
The role combines market leadership, technical excellence, people management, client portfolio growth, quality execution, and risk management.
The role supports Corporate Tax Partners and works with a Delivery Centre across advisory, compliance, controversy, and transactions.
Client Leadership and Delivery
- Advise on UAE Corporate Tax matters including group structuring, free zone regimes, participation exemption, interest limitation, deductibility, loss utilisation, restructuring, and permanent establishment analyses.
- Lead complex transactions and reorganisations covering due diligence, tax structuring, SPA tax clauses, step-plan design, post-deal integration, and tax accounting.
- Set engagement strategy, scope, budgets, and staffing plans and ensure high-quality delivery under global methodologies and risk requirements.
- Review and sign off technical analyses, memoranda, models, and client reports under UAE law and OECD standards.
- Oversee registrations, elections, group relief, returns, tax accounting, disclosures, documentation, and workpapers for complex groups.
Market and People Leadership
- Drive business development, pipeline conversion, proposals, thought leadership, and market eminence across priority sectors.
- Build executive-level relationships with CFOs and Tax Directors and provide insights on regulatory developments and market trends.
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams across grades through training, feedback, sponsorship, and inclusive leadership.
- Collaborate across transfer pricing, deals, legal, audit, and consulting service lines.
Risk and Operations
- Uphold quality, independence, confidentiality, information security, and engagement risk standards.
- Ensure accurate work in progress, billing, and cash collection while delivering profitable growth against targets.
Qualifications and Experience
- 12+ years of relevant corporate or international tax experience, including significant experience in a Big Four or leading law or consulting firm.
- Strong UAE and GCC exposure and deep technical command of UAE Corporate Tax law and guidance are required.
- Experience leading large, multi-jurisdictional engagements, managing senior client stakeholders, and originating and closing advisory projects is required.
- Strong understanding of IFRS tax accounting, including IAS 12, and group reporting is required.
- Experience with Revenue Authority interactions, audits, rulings, clarifications, and dispute strategies is advantageous.
Education and Credentials
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, or a related field is required.
- An advanced degree and recognised tax or accounting qualification such as ADIT, CTA, ACA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent are preferred.
- Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are advantageous.
Technical and Leadership Skills
- The role requires expert written and oral communication, practical interpretation of complex rules, financial modelling, data literacy, negotiation, project management, team building, and coaching.
- The role requires proficiency with MS Office and tax compliance platforms, plus familiarity with data extraction, transformation, AI, automation, and analytics for tax compliance and reporting.
