Role Overview
The Systems Engineer II executes process-domain projects for pharmaceutical, oil and gas, chemical, power, and other customers.
The role covers end-to-end design and delivery, customer requirements, automation implementation, testing, documentation, and project coordination.
The role also supports automation projects for material-handling customers.
Responsibilities
- Study contract documents and tenders and evaluate customer requirements.
- Develop functional and concept technical design specifications and pharmaceutical documentation such as IQ and OQ.
- Ensure implementation follows project standards and quality documents and meets end-user specifications.
- Identify simulation configuration modifications and develop project risk mitigation plans.
- Attend customer and project reviews, raise technical queries, and support quality-process reviews.
- Manage team members and project teams and monitor project tasks, timelines, and progress.
- Prepare or update reports and documentation.
- Develop, test, implement, and present logic or systems during Factory Acceptance, Site Acceptance, BUAT, and UAT activities.
- Execute on-site internal and customer acceptance test plans.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and support product improvement, productivity, and skill development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, or another technical discipline.
- 4.5 to 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, refinery, petrochemical, or chemical operations.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% or more of the time.
- Experience with DCS, SCADA, PLC programming, electrical design, industrial communication, HMI systems, or related automation technologies is valued.
- Experience with Honeywell, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens PLCs is valued.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate with engineering teams, and make timely decisions in complex situations.
Valued Technical Experience
- DCS, SCADA, PLC programming, and electrical design.
- Honeywell, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens PLCs.
- VFD programming and setup.
- Network protocols, network switches, and firewall configuration.
- Profibus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Foundation Fieldbus, and Modbus Serial or TCP/IP.
- Human-machine interface system design.
