Key Responsibilities
- Perform system safety engineering throughout the aircraft lifecycle from system definition and development through verification, validation, and certification.
- Develop, update, and maintain FHA, PSSA, SSA, ZSA, PRA, CMA, and MMEL safety justifications.
- Define safety requirements and ensure allocation, implementation, traceability, and verification at aircraft, system, and item levels.
- Coordinate with systems engineering and design teams to implement safety requirements.
- Support systems architecture definition, safety mitigation actions, design-change reviews, and aircraft integration.
- Provide safety inputs to SRR, PDR, CDR, and flight-test activities.
- Liaise with certification authorities and suppliers.
- Classify flight-test occurrences by safety impact and contribute to mitigation actions.
- Improve system safety processes and provide guidance to engineers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent technical engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of System Safety Engineer experience in aerospace aircraft development, integration, test, and certification programs.
- Experience may cover civil or military aircraft programs.
Technical Knowledge
- Good knowledge of applicable certification regulations and guidance, including 14 CFR Part 23 or EASA CS-23 and FAA AC 23.1309-1E.
- Solid understanding and application of ARP4761 and ARP4754.
- Experience developing and maintaining FHA, PSSA, SSA, ZSA, PRA, and CMA activities.
