Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety engineering activities during the aircraft lifecycle, from system definition and development through verification, validation, and certification.
  • Develop, update and maintain system safety assessments in accordance with applicable regulations, aerospace standards, and guidance, including: Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA), System Safety Assessments (SSA), Zonal Safety Assessments (ZSA), Particul
  • Define safety requirements derived from safety analyses, ensuring proper allocation, implementation, traceability, and verification at aircraft, system, and item level.
  • Coordinate closely with systems engineering and design teams to ensure safety requirements are correctly implemented.
  • Support definition of the systems architecture, define safety mitigation actions, and review design changes resulting from system development to achieve required safety objectives.
  • Participate in aircraft integration activities ensuring safety objectives are achieved.
  • Provide system safety inputs to mandated system reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
  • Liaise with certification authorities and suppliers.
  • Support flight test activities by providing system safety inputs, classifying occurrences according to their impact on safety, and contributing to the definition of mitigation actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of the company system safety processes and provide system safety guidance to engineers when required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent technical engineering degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a System Safety Engineer in the aerospace industry during aircraft development, integration, test, and certification phases for civil and/or military aircraft programs.
  • Good knowledge of applicable certification regulations and guidance, such as: 14 CFR Part 23 and/or EASA CS 23, FAA AC 23.1309 1E.
  • Solid understanding and application of ARP4761 and ARP4754.
  • Experience developing and maintaining all of the following system safety activities: FHA, PSSA, SSA, ZSA, PRA, CMA.
